Large Opium Seizure Reported in Jharkhand's Chatra District
Authorities seized a substantial amount of opium and related products in Chatra, Jharkhand. Following intelligence about narcotics storage, police conducted multiple raids, leading to the discovery and arrest of a suspect. The market value of the seized substances is estimated to be in the lakhs.

In a significant crackdown on narcotics, authorities in Jharkhand’s Chatra district seized a large quantity of opium and opium pods. The operation was conducted after police received intelligence about illegal drug storage in Jordag village.
During the raids, law enforcement officials confiscated 1.57 kg of opium, 69.87 kg of opium pods, and 25.85 kg of poppy seeds. Additionally, Rs 30,000 in cash and two Aadhaar cards were recovered. Another raid in Margada village resulted in the seizure of 1.05 kg of opium and the arrest of 19-year-old Umesh Kumar. The total value of the seized narcotics is estimated at over Rs 23 lakh.
