Israeli forces launched an intense military offensive on Lebanon's fourth largest city, Tyre, early Thursday, leaving at least eight people dead. The attack, aimed at the Hezbollah group, comes ahead of key diplomatic discussions in Washington. The Lebanese National News Agency reported numerous injuries as well.

As violence ramps up, Israel confirmed the death of one of its soldiers in a Hezbollah drone assault in northern Israel. The escalation followed leader Netanyahu's announcement of a military campaign against Hezbollah's use of drones, which have targeted Israeli regions.

While security dialogues between Lebanese and Israeli officials in Washington were meant to maintain an April 17 ceasefire, activities on the ground suggest a continuing conflict. Hezbollah has rejected the peace talks, aligning with Iran's demands to end the war in Lebanon.

Prior to Thursday's operations, Israel issued warnings across Tyre. Strikes continued in Sidon, affecting displaced civilians. The growing conflict has displaced over a million people and resulted in numerous casualties on both sides.
