An aged former IAS officer has tragically passed away following a house fire in Hauz Khas, South Delhi. The fire, which is suspected to have been ignited by an air conditioner's indoor unit explosion, also left the officer's son injured, though he is now reported to be in a stable condition.

Emergency services were alerted late Wednesday night, swiftly deploying two fire tenders to control the blaze. The retired officer, identified as Dhanender Kumar, was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre but succumbed to smoke inhalation. Five people, including family members and domestic help, were present at the time of the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation, having found no indications of foul play so far, with electrical inspections underway to confirm the fire's origin.
