The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will gather for a commemorative summit with Vladimir Putin in June, as announced by the Philippines' foreign office. The meeting, to take place in Kazan, Russia, aims to explore enhancing strategic partnerships.
Philippine Foreign Secretary Theresa Lazaro and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed this upcoming summit, focusing on expanding ASEAN's longstanding dialogue with Russia. While most ASEAN members supported the UN resolution against Russia's actions in Ukraine, the bloc has maintained dialogue status with Moscow. The summit will see the participation of Philippine leader Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
