The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has dismantled a significant interstate drug trafficking network responsible for smuggling charas from Himachal Pradesh to various parts of India. This operation was revealed in an official statement released on Friday.
Following specific intelligence inputs, NCB's Chandigarh unit intercepted two individuals from Haryana in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, on May 25, confiscating 4.529 kg of charas. Subsequent investigations traced the supply chain to the Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh.
On May 27, NCB operatives carried out further operations in Jari, Kullu, arresting two additional syndicate members with 3.543 kg of charas and Rs 85,000 in cash. This crackdown follows an April arrest by NCB Chandigarh, which involved three others connected to the same network.
The investigation has uncovered that the accused were deeply embedded in distributing charas from Kullu to key locations including Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Mumbai, and Goa. Efforts are underway to identify more associates and unravel the financial mechanisms of this trafficking network.
