The All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) has appealed to Narendra Modi to implement a cut in diesel prices after global crude oil rates have dropped significantly.

According to Harish Sabharwal, AIMTC's National President, diesel accounts for about 60% of commercial vehicle operating costs, and maintaining high prices has severely impacted truck operators and fleet owners. The organization emphasizes that easing diesel costs would alleviate inflation and reduce logistics expenses.

AIMTC highlighted that Brent crude prices witnessed a decline of nearly 20% in May 2026, one of the sharpest monthly reductions in recent times. However, these global trends have yet to benefit domestic diesel consumers effectively.

The road transport sector, as a critical component of India's economy, urges the central government to extend this relief to consumers, aiming to support economic growth and manage inflation.
