Gujarat Court Sentences Man to Life for Child Rape, Awards Compensation to Victim

In Gandhinagar, Gujarat, a POCSO court has imposed a life sentence on a man convicted of raping a four-year-old girl, with the judgement including an order for Rs 10 lakh compensation for the victim. The ruling was delivered by Additional District Judge SV Sharma.

The convict, Ram Yadav from Bihar, abducted and assaulted the child last December at a secluded location. His arrest followed the review of CCTV evidence. During a site investigation, Yadav attempted to flee, but was apprehended after police fired warning shots. Forensic evidence presented in court played a crucial role in securing the conviction.
