Himachal Forest Guard Arrested for Assault on Women Staff

An incident in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district involving a forest guard has led to his arrest and suspension from duty. This took place in the Lapiana forest sub-division, where allegations surfaced about the guard's inappropriate behavior with three women employees known as Van Mitras.
The forest department responded promptly by suspending the accused and launching a departmental investigation. Police officials have registered a case under pertinent sections, and during the suspension period, the guard is relocated outside the Dharamshala division to ensure a fair inquiry.
Divisional Forest Officer Amit Sharma clarified that the event occurred on May 27 while the guard was allegedly intoxicated. Reports claim the guard used offensive language, leading to an argument that escalated to physical assault. The women filed complaints, resulting in immediate police intervention.
The Forest Department reiterated its commitment to maintaining a dignified workplace, stressing a strict policy against any form of misconduct, especially towards female staff.
