The Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) from Delhi-NCR has voiced demands for justice following the killing of three church leaders in Manipur. Additionally, they seek the swift release of 14 individuals allegedly held hostage, and urge political resolutions to cease ongoing ethnic conflict.
During a press conference in Delhi, the KSO highlighted the persistent violence and insecurity faced by the Kuki-Zo community in Manipur. They expressed discontent over the lack of arrests in connection with the ambushed murder of the church leaders on May 13. The group called for a timely investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The organisation further pressed for the release of 14 hostages held by Naga groups in Senapati district, describing the detention as a breach of human rights. They criticized the authorities for their inability to ensure the hostages' safe return, intensifying fear within their community.
Highlighting adverse impacts like displacement and selective justice, the KSO called on the central government to enhance security in Kuki-Zo areas and uphold constitutional rights. The group reiterated the need for political dialogue and arrangements that safeguard their community's interests and aspirations for peace.
