Rescuers are striving to retrieve the bodies of seven tourists and a driver after their vehicle tragically fell into a ravine in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. The accident, which occurred late Friday night, only came to light when locals discovered the site on Saturday afternoon.
The unfortunate incident happened as the car traveled towards the hazardous Sach Pass, a treacherous route due to its snow-laden stretches. Churah lawmaker Hans Raj reported that despite the challenging terrain and adverse weather, efforts are underway to bring up the bodies. Communications are also hindered as the area is devoid of phone signals.
The joint effort to recover the victims began again on Sunday, with locals forming human chains to navigate the steep slopes safely. Preliminary details reveal that the victims were two families from Karnataka, including a driver from Chamba. They headed towards the snow for leisure but failed to return, prompting a search operation after their vehicle's GPS indicated no movement.
