A tragic incident unfolded in South Delhi as a three-storey commercial building, located near the Saket metro station, collapsed. The structure is now a mere pile of rubble, with nine individuals rescued so far during a multi-agency operation to locate others feared trapped.
The collapse of the building, which accommodated a coaching institute, offices, and cafes, led to a frantic rescue mission. Reports suggest cries for help from beneath the debris as locals estimate that around 100 to 150 people might be trapped. The building, constructed approximately five years ago, succumbed entirely, toppling onto an adjoining canteen filled with medical students.
Rescue teams, including the NDRF, are using heavy machinery and specialized equipment like hydraulic cutters and sniffer dogs to navigate the wreckage. Nearby hospitals are on high alert, where anxious relatives await news of their loved ones. Authorities are focused on rescue efforts, with an investigation into the building’s construction permits and safety measures pending.
