Rekha Gupta, Chief Minister of Delhi, visited the tragic scene in Saket, where a building collapse led to six deaths. She pledged to hold responsible those linked to unauthorised constructions and vowed a city-wide campaign against such dangers.

The Saturday evening incident, which occurred on Western Marg, involved a structure that was being used as a coaching center and housed cafes and offices. With construction reportedly ongoing on the upper floor, the collapse led to a criminal case being filed and an inquiry spearheaded by the district magistrate of South Delhi. Immediate action was taken by suspending two engineering officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Gupta called for immediate inspections of hazardous buildings in the affected area and beyond. The Chief Minister directed efforts to ensure the safety of individuals and to carry out all rescue operations with careful precision. Local residents voiced worries over continued illegal constructions, a concern that Gupta addressed by emphasizing a stringent approach to safety violations across the capital.

High-level search and rescue operations continue, supported by multiple agencies, as expressed by the Lieutenant Governor. The emphasis remains on prompt medical attention and financial as well as administrative support for the victims. Gupta assured the community of prevention-focused measures and a thorough investigation to prevent future incidents.
