Authorities in Kerala have commenced a probe after Congress legislator Sandeep Varier reported receiving a life-threatening phone call. The legislator, who previously served as a BJP member, alleged that he was threatened with being shot by an unknown caller.
Chandera Police have filed a case and are actively investigating the incident. Preliminary findings indicate that the call may have been placed from Varanasi, in Uttar Pradesh, although the origin of the threat is still under scrutiny. To aid in their efforts, investigators have sought support from the cyber wing to confirm the caller's identity and establish the motive for the threat.
The investigative team has been reviewing phone number data and calling records. Given the gravity of the threat, officials have committed to exploring all possible avenues to ensure Varier's safety. Efforts to apprehend the perpetrator are currently underway.
