A Palestinian man lost his life after being shot by Israeli forces at a barrier dividing the occupied West Bank from Jerusalem, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Identified as 26-year-old Imad Haroun Ishtayeh from Salem village, the victim was reportedly attempting to cross the border into Israel, seeking employment as his poultry business suffered from the region's economic crisis. Despite crossing attempts by many, the tensions escalated after limited access following an attack in southern Israel in October. Unemployment and economic strain have intensified these border risks.
