Sanctions Hit Network Aiding Iran's Military Procurement
The U.S. government has imposed sanctions on 11 individuals and entities, primarily based in China and Hong Kong, for facilitating weapon procurement for Iran’s military and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. This includes companies within Iran’s banking network and activities extending to Belarus.
The United States government announced new sanctions on Wednesday, targeting 11 individuals and entities involved in supporting Iran's military and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in their weapons procurement efforts. Among those sanctioned are several entities based in China and Hong Kong.
The U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control specified that nine of the sanctioned parties are China- and Hong Kong-based individuals and companies. These entities play a crucial role in facilitating the acquisition of weaponry for Iran's military operations.
Furthermore, the U.S. State Department has extended its designations to include two companies and individuals operating in Iran and Belarus, highlighting concerns over Iran's conventional arms-related activities. This move is another step in the ongoing effort to curb Iran's military expansion.
