Bangladesh has accused India of trying to push migrants across the border without due process, complicating efforts to stabilize bilateral ties post the 2024 removal of Sheikh Hasina. Tensions have been further inflamed by India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's focus on identifying and deporting undocumented immigrants.

The ongoing discussions also covered human trafficking, border deaths, and smuggling. Both nations vowed to maintain peace and stability along their extensive border, emphasizing improved real-time information sharing and joint action against criminal networks. A future meeting is slated to take place in Dhaka in November.
