Germany is engaged in discussions with Romania regarding the potential extradition of a man detained for his suspected involvement with a weapons cache discovered in a Berlin-adjacent forest last year, according to Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt.

During a press conference, Dobrindt emphasized the heightened threat level posed by this case. There have been media speculations of the weapons being intended for assassinations by Russian intelligence. However, Dobrindt mentioned he could not dismiss the possibility of foreign involvement but refrained from making definitive statements.

The suspect also faces charges connected to proposed parcel bomb attacks in Romania, influencing the negotiations with Romanian authorities concerning his extradition. Dobrindt added that the stash was under surveillance for months, with no individuals observed near the site.
