Accessing justice is the realization of the constitutional right of every Fijian, says Fiji Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama. He said every Fijian has the right of equal access to justice while officially opening the new Legal Aid Commission office in Keiyasi, Navosa, which is more than 52 kilometres from Sigatoka.

Bainimarama said he is very much aware of the reality faced by the community in Keiyasi. "The people have often had to make the arduous and costly journey all the way to Sigatoka to speak with a Legal Aid Officer. You must be able to access justice here, in your community, where you live, work and raise your families."

The PM said a lawyer will be available at the new office two to three days of the week and added that the people can advantage of the free legal services. Moreover, the people can also access the full-time client information officer and registry officer.

Bainimarama said the people can access the Legal Aid Commission for various issues be it a family suffering from the loss of a loved one, a family facing eviction, a mother seeking custody of a child or a couple looking to adopt a new member for the family.
