- Country:
- Australia
The counter-terrorism police raided two houses in New South Wale's mid-north coast as part of the investigations into last Friday's Christchurch terrorist attack.
The Australian Federal Police and NSW Police said their objective is to formally obtain material that may assist the New Zealand Police in their ongoing investigation. They searched a property in Sandy Beach near Coffs Harbour and a second house at Lawrence, near Maclean.
They assured the community that there is no information to suggest a current or impending threat related to the search warrants.
Meanwhile, Brenton Tarrant, an Australian from Grafton in NSW has been charged with the murder of over 50 people at the two Christchurch mosques. Despite online profiles linking him to white supremacist material, Tarrant was not on Australia or New Zealand's watchlist. The accused had posted a 74-page manifesto online before the attack. He also made a 17-minute video and live-streamed the shootings.
Investigations continue.
