A woman and six men were sentenced to life imprisonment by a court here on Wednesday for killing her mother-in-law over a family dispute nearly six years ago. Mahila Court Sessions Judge J Radhika held Padmapriya and the six men she had hired guilty of killing the 67-year-old woman but acquitted another person accused in the case.
According to the prosecution, Padmapriya's mother-in-law was found dead with her throat slit in her house in December 2013. Police had arrested Padmapriya and seven others in connection with the murder case.
They told the court that Padmapriya had hatched a conspiracy and hired the seven persons to kill her mother-in-law over a family dispute. The six men sentenced to prison are Rajendran, Sekhar and Mahendran (all from Pudukottai), Chandrakumar (Tirunelveli), Karunamurthi (Srirangam) and Ganesan (Tiruchirappalli).
