Honduras and the Organization of American States (OAS) have failed to agree on a new mandate for an anti-corruption mission that has operated in the Central American country since 2016, the Honduran foreign ministry said on Friday.

In a statement, the ministry said there had been discontent in some sectors of Honduras about perceived overreach by the Mission to Support the Fight Against Corruption and Impunity in Honduras (MACCIH), whose current mandate expires on Jan. 19.
