Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday said the picturesque Chanshal in Shimla district would be developed as an international tourist destination.
The Chief Minister said that the government would ramp up basic amenities and boost physical infrastructure to attract adventure and snowsport lovers.
"The current state government has completed almost 11 months and welfare of the common man has remained the focal point of its policies," Thakur said at a public meeting in Rohru town, some 120 kilometres from here.
Thakur said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government was committed to all-round development of the state. "The government in its very first budget announced 30 schemes for the welfare of every section of society."
The state has launched 'Grihini Suvidha Yojna' to provide free cooking gas connections to the woman beneficiaries, and about 35,000 connections have already been given.
Before addressing the public meeting, the Chief Minister listened to the 'Mann Ki Baat' programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the people of Rohru.
Modi's monthly radio broadcast completed 50 episodes on Sunday, during which he shared the reason behind the conception of the programme and its journey so far.
