South Africa is all set to unveil a new boutique hotel named Gorgeous George Hotel in March 2019 at the outskirt of its city Cape Town.
Located at St George's Mall, Gorgeous George Hotel will house all the luxury requirements of the overall Cape Town population. The hotel was initially built by the United Buildings Society which gave it an Art Deco as its entrance with a conjoined building with traits of the New Edwardian style of the 1940s, Construction Review Online reported.
While walking into the Gorgeous George Hotel, the visitor will be welcomed by an Art Deco theme, a contrast with the structure's 1940s New Edwardian style. The hotel has raised two standing structures that have different façades – one with oak frames and another one with steel window frames. The hotel also consists of a rooftop pool, bar and restaurant.
The current design of the hotel brings together the architectural plans of all the buildings while allowing for various moods based on the perspective of a viewer. Tristan du Plessis, the international award-winning designer, who is behind the hotel's interiors, elaborates his choice to feature works by South African artists inside the hotel. "We wanted to take this fantastic conjoined building that has a rich history of Cape Town and create a modern, timeless hotel using South African designers as part of the design DNA," du Plessis said.
