The Delhi government has announced plans to open a hostel facility in Timarpur, dedicated to female college students with disabilities. This initiative, led by the Department of Social Welfare, is designed to accommodate 96 students, providing them with a safe and accessible residential space to promote higher education.

Initially unveiled in September 2025 for visually impaired students, the facility's eligibility has now been broadened to encompass all 21 disability categories recognized by the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. The hostel will offer free lodging and boarding to help alleviate the financial and logistical challenges faced by students, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds and remote areas. The establishment is seen as part of a wider strategy to make higher education more inclusive and supportive for women with disabilities.
