CBI arrests Bank manager

Central Bureau of Investigation officials Tuesday arrested a manager of a nationalised bank while he was accepting a bribe from a man in Bihar's Supaul district, CBI sources said. CBI officials arrested Amar Kumar, the branch manager of Bank of India, located at Simrahi in the district while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a man, they said.

One Ram Narayan Singh, who runs a milk booth at Simhari, had lodged a complaint with the CBI that the branch manager was asking a bribe of Rs 50,000 for extending his (Singh's) cash credit limit of Rs 9 lakh. The CBI had verified the complaint in which it found the allegations to be true, sources said adding that the CBI officials caught the branch manager red-handed when he reached the milk booth to receive the bribe money.

The CBI officials would take the arrested branch manager to Patna for further and necessary action, the sources added..
