A severe fire broke out in Amritsar's bamboo market, leading to the tragic death of a shopkeeper. The incident occurred on Thursday when flames engulfed 'Bansan Wala Bazaar', destroying at least 25 stalls. Authorities suspect the fire started due to a faulty electrical transformer.

Criticism arose as locals claimed firefighting teams took excessive time to reach the site, allowing the fire to destroy much of the market. With numerous shops filled with highly flammable bamboo and wooden items, the blaze spread rapidly. Witnesses noted the victim was unable to flee due to physical disabilities.

Ten fire engines were eventually deployed to tackle the blaze, which could be seen from afar. The local community expressed frustration over the delayed emergency response, suggesting the loss might have been mitigated with faster action.
