Goa governor calls the special session of Assembly on Wednesday. It is worth noting that Goa has just gone through a tough time after CM Parrikar passed away this Sunday and the state is observing a 7-day mourning period.

Pramod Sawant has been sworn in as new CM of the state amid political chaos as Congress was staking a claim to form the government claiming a majority in the house. The strength of the 40-member House has been reduced to 36 due to the death of chief minister Manohar Parrikar, BJP MLA Francis D'Souza and resignations of two Congress MLAs Subhash Shirodkar and Dayanand Sopte.

Sawant has confirmed a floor test tomorrow to test and he seems confident of proving majority in the house. "We are going for the floor test tomorrow. There is no problem with that. There will be two deputy CMs in this government - Vijay Sardesai and Sudin Dhavalikar. And I request all the people not to congratulate me or welcome me with flowers during the seven-day mourning period," Sawant said.

Congress is the single largest party in the state with 14 MLAs. There is also an NCP legislator in the House. New Goa CM Sawant also announced a memorial for Parrikar at Panaji's Miramar beach, where he was cremated.
