The manager and trainer of a civic swimming pool in Palghar's Vasai area were Monday booked for alleged negligence after an 8-year-old boy died there, police said. Yug Ladva, a resident of Vasant Nagri complex, drowned Sunday evening in the Krishna Township swimming pool belonging to the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation, a Manickpur police station official said.

"The victim's father had dropped off Yug at the swimming pool. When he returned, the minor was not to be seen. The victim was later found in a distressed condition and rushed to a nearby hospital where authorities declared him dead on arrival," the official said. The victim's father filed a complaint late Sunday night following which the manager and trainer of the pool were booked under section 304A (causing death by negligence), said Palghar police spokesperson Hemant Katkar. He said a probe was on and no arrests had been made so far.
