Cong will win 20 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat, feels Satav

Gujarat Congress in-charge Rajeev Satav Sunday expressed confidence that his party would win 20 of the total 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Satav says people are optimistic about the Nyay scheme, under which the party has promised to provide Rs 72,000 annually to the poorest families in the country if voted to power.

"We received outstanding support of people during our campaigning across Gujarat. And we are sure that such support and love would convert into votes on April 23. People are very positive about our Nyay Scheme. We believe that Congress will win 20 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat," Satav said in a press conference here after campaigning came to an end. In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, BJP had made a clean sweep by winning all the 26 seats.

"This time, BJP leaders are not talking about any of their promises made during the 2014 polls. They have not given any account of what they did to bring back black money, to give two crore jobs every year or to reduce price rise. People are very angry and it will go in favour of Congress this time," he added. Meanwhile, talking to reporters, Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda said people were with the Congress as the party and its candidates has raised the right issues, such as better MSP for farmers, corruption, inflation and water scarcity.

"We remained grounded and positive during our entire campaign trail. On the other side, BJP leaders stooped low and engaged in negative politics only. People are angry over the BJP's failure in fulfilling its pre-poll promises," Chavda said. Campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat has came to an end this evening. All 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state will go to polls on Tuesday..
