Woman dies after falling in valley at hill station in Maha
A 30-year-old woman died after falling into a valley at the popular Matheran hill station near here, a police official said on Monday. The incident took place on Saturday when the woman, Sangita Mishra, was taking a walk at Belvedere viewing point with her husband and two children at the hill station, located around 80 km from here in the neighbouring Raigad district, he said.
Mishra suddenly lost her balance at the viewing point and slipped into the valley having dense vegetation and got stuck in the foliage, an official said. The local police and some trekkers managed to pull her out after hectic efforts for over two hours, he said.
She was rushed to a state-run hospital in Karjat where doctors declared her dead, the official said. The police have ruled out anything suspicious and registered an accidental death report, he added..
