Meghalaya: SSLC, HSSLC exam results announced; Girls outperform boys in both

An estimated 55.72 per cent of the total 50,050 students passed the Meghalaya SSLC examination while 76.28 per cent of the 24,371 students passed the HSSLC examinations, the results of which were both announced on Monday. Neelam Kumari of Embee Rosebud Secondary School of Tura town bagged the top position in the SSLC examination while Diana Kharbithai of St Anthonys Higher Secondary School here topped the HSSLC examination.
Kumari scored 577 marks in the Meghalaya Board of School Education's Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination. She was followed by Darila Akor Kharmawphlang of St Marys Higher Secondary School who scored a total of 565 and Luigi Dalian Pasweth of QC Springside English Secondary School (563 marks).
Kharbithai who topped Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination with 452 marks while her classmates Prantik Bhattacharjee and Alethea Phoeba Nongrum were placed in the second and third position by scoring 446 marks and 444 marks respectively. The state recorded a pass percentage of 55.72 per cent in the SSCL examination, which saw a slight drop when compared to last years 56.76 per cent.
The overall pass percentage in the HSSLC examination was registered at 76.28 per cent when compared to 2018 which was recorded at 74.78 per cent. A total 27,887 of 50,050 students from 615 schools cleared the SSLC examination held in 140 centres, while 18,589 of 24,371 students from 231 schools who gave the HSSLC exams held in 100 centres were declared successful by the Board.
Girls in both examinations have performed better than boys. East Jaintia Hills District scored the highest pass percentage at 77.06 percent while South West Garo Hills registered the lowest at 25.92 percent in the SSLC examination. In the HSSLC examination, East Khasi Hills District recorded the highest pass percentage at 88.78 per cent while South Garo Hills with only 39.36 per cent..
