Woman commits suicide

A woman in her late twenties, allegedly committed suicide on Monday by jumping from the eighth floor of a building in the southern part of the city, police said. The incident took place at around 11.10 am, when 28- year-old Jasmine Mitra allegedly jumped off from the eighth floor of the 11-storey Chitrakoot building on AJC Bose Road.

Mitra, an employee of a jewellery company having an office in the building, was immediately taken to the state-run SSKM hospital where she was declared brought dead, said a senior officer of Kolkata Police said. "We are looking into the matter. An investigating has been started. The woman's body has been sent for post mortem. A forensic team is examining the area. We are talking to her office colleagues," he said..
