170 "path-breaking" startup ideas registered with Goa body

The Goa State Innovation Council (GSIC) has registered more than 170 "path-breaking" startup ideas since its conception, the Assembly was informed on Wednesday. The annual report of GSIC, a state-run body, was tabled in the Assembly session.

According to the report, the council's Virtual Innovation Register (VIR) has successfully registered several "path-breaking" startup ideas. "Out of the total 179 ideas registered on VIR, 37 were from established startups and 142 were new ideas, it said.

"These figures reflect the potential of entrepreneurship in Goa and also VIRs success in reaching out to people and tapping ideas, the report said. VIR is a unique initiative by GSIC to harvest potential ideas and innovation without any hassle or fuss, it said.

"It (VIR) is an online platform where innovators and entrepreneurs can register their ideas virtually and source the required support to achieve the expected results. "The VIR will also function as an innovation souk where young innovators will display prototypes and directly talk to prospective buyers, the report added.
