Three students were injured, one of them seriously, on Tuesday in a wall collapse in Bairad in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district, police said. At around 1:30pm, a classroom wall of Government Vijayanand Higher Secondary School caved in, injuring three Class IX students, an official said.
"Sandeep Yadav (17) was grievously injured and has been shifted to Gwalior for specialised treatment. Two other students, Ankit Sharma and Akash Dhakad, both 16, are being treated here," Bairad police inspector Alok Singh Bhadoria told PTI over phone. There were 38 students in the class when the incident happened, he added.
According to an official, the school, 55 kilometres from the district headquarters, was 28 years old and had mud walls and tin sheet roofs, and it was possible heavy rains caused the mishap. Bairad received 115 millimetres of rainfall in a 24- hour period ending at 8am on Tuesday, the official said..
