Anganwadi workers in Delhi to get smartphones
- Country:
- India
Anganwadi workers in Delhi will now have smartphones, with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal distributing the devices to them on Wednesday, a move aimed at digitalising the anganwadi centres and improving their functioning. An official said smartphones will have an app through which anganwadi workers will be able to keep digital records of their 10,752 centres.
The government will also launch early childhood curriculum for children aged between three years and six years, who are enrolled into the anganwadi or child care centres. There are around 10,000 anganwadi workers in the national capital.
The official said that an anganwadi worker has to maintain around 11 registers, including attendance, and doing daily works will be easy for them. "The chief minister will distribute smartphones among anganwadi workers on Wednesday," the official said, adding that the project will be executed with a cost of Rs 11 crore.
The mobile app at the anganwadi centre level will enable real time capturing of information on service delivery.
