A woman and her two sons have been arrested for allegedly attacking and robbing a 70-year-old man in Bhayander in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Monday. The senior citizen was attacked by the three on August 4 at around 11:15pm and was robbed of items, including gold jewellery, worth Rs 1.05 lakh, said the Kashimira police station official.

"We first zeroed in on Tabrez Munna Azam Khan, an autorickshaw driver. He revealed the involvement of his mother Jyoti alias Nilofer and younger brother Mehtab," he said. The woman had taken a loan from the accused and on the pretext of returning it had called him near a bar in the area, he said.

"They knew the victim used to wear gold chain, bracelet and ring. So they decided to rob him when he arrived there on August 4. They threw chilli powder in his eyes. All three have been remanded in police custody till August 21," he informed..
