A ceremony termed Kwita Izina is quite popular in Rwanda and accumulated severe acclamation due to its weird way of celebrating it. Kwita Izina is celebrated by giving names to the new born baby gorillas in the presence of huge multitude of animal lovers, philanthropists, political leaders and common mass.

Through the official Twitter handle of Kwita Izina, the officials have recently tweeted they are going to organize the 15th ever gorilla naming ceremony on Friday, September 6. They have also invited the common people from Rwanda and abroad to join and celebrate the "mountain gorilla conservation milestones" achieved in the last 15 years in the East African country.

A naming ceremony is held every year for newly born gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park, which is located at the Virunga Mountains in northern Rwanda. For those who may consider it just a ceremonial entertainment should be aware of its main objective, which is easing the task of monitoring each gorilla and their groups in their natural habitat.

On the other hand, the ceremony Kwita Izina is a kind of reminder of our close link to gorillas who have very much similarity in DNA to the human being. Apart from all these motives, this ceremony helps in raising awareness of the protection of species and their habitats at national and international levels. This ceremony mainly takes place in September every year. This year, it is going to take place on September 6 and around 25 gorillas are expected to be named.
