Modi defends GST after facing outrage by opposition

GST has brought transparency in business that has helped double registered traders, raise state revenues by one-and-a-half times, Modi has said.

Ruling BJP has repeatedly drawn ire of opposition parties over the implementation of GST. Rahul Gandhi, chief of Congress, has termed it a "disaster", and has promised that on coming to power, will work to give "one GST", which is simple and lowest tax possible.
