A 25-year-old undertrial prisoner at Mandoli jail has died under mysterious circumstances after being hospitalized, said a jail official on Friday.

A 25-year-old undertrial prisoner at Mandoli jail has died under mysterious circumstances after being hospitalized, said a jail official on Friday.

The man, Shiva, was lodged in the jail in an attempt to murder case. He was hospitalized three-four days ago and died on Thursday at GTB Hospital, he added.

The official said Shiva consumed something when he was produced in the court and after returning to jail, he complained of uneasiness, following which he was hospitalized.

Police said a post-mortem was carried out and a magisterial probe is being conducted in the matter.

Shiva's family has alleged foul play in his death.
