The security forces on Wednesday, November 28 has gunned down Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Naveed Jatt in an encounter in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. Around five months back, the LeT terrorist killed senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari.

LeT militant, Naveed Jatt alias Abu Hanzullah killed the Editor-in-Chief of Rising Kashmir, Shujaat Bukhari on June 14. Today, the security forces encountered Jatt accompanied by another terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Jatt was a Pakistani. After he had escaped from a Srinagar hospital under police custody on February 6, 2018, he was shown in a video with Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists in a forest area of South Kashmir. The video also highlighted him with automated rifle embracing the other terrorists.

The 22-year old LeT commander was also close to the former head of LeT, Abu Qasim who was encountered by the security forces in 2015. Jatt, who hailed from Multan, Pakistan, entered India through Keran in North Kashmir in October 2012. While he was interrogated following his arrest four years back, he admitted that he was given the task of eliminating Indian policemen and central paramilitary forces. He was close to Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, a top leader of LeT and one of the masterminds of 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks.
