The combination of cultural and commercial products, as well as fashion-related materials were the gimmicks for the people that visited, last Tuesday in Cairo, the Angolan exhibition pavilion at the first Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF/2018), which began last Tuesday in Egypt and is set to end on 17 December.

Visitors were attracted to the Angolan pavilion by the sound of the Marimba musical instrument played in the spot and the traditional dances performed by the Bale group at Africa’s biggest commercial showcase.

Throughout the day, several crowds of people visited the Angolan exhibition pavilion and received details about the various products and services on display, while a few other visitors already initiated business contacts.

The opening ceremony of the fair – which has exhibitors from over twenty African countries and over ten representations from outside the continent - was chaired by the Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

During the opening speeches, the members of the African Union (AU) and government officials reiterated the need to take a serious commitment to the human and natural resources available in Africa to avoid the continued economic and financial dependence on other continents.

At the opening ceremony, the Angolan ambassador to Egypt, António da Costa Fernandes, endorsed the same idea, stressing that Africa has sufficient potential to transform the continent into a world economic power and ensure prosperity for its people.

Happening under the motto “Transforming Africa”, IATF/2018 happens as a result of a partnership involving the African Union (AU), the Egyptian Government and the African Export and Import Bank (Afreximbank).
