A year ago, 15 United Nations peacekeepers from Tanzania were brutally murdered in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). On December 14, Jean-Pierre La Croix (who is a French diplomat who currently serves as the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations) visited some of the victims' families to honor and pay tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives.
Jean-Pierre La Croix, during his visit, said that their contribution and sacrifice can never be forgotten. He also met the members of the Tanzania People's Defence Force.
"I know that it's difficult to find words to express your pain. But let me assure you, that as you will never forget your brave heroes, we will never forget them as well," Croix said.
