Edgar Lungu reaches Japan, President expects strengthening of trade, economic relations

Zambia's President Edgar Lungu has reached Japan for a three-day official visit. The representative of Japanese government, Kenji Yamada welcome Zambia's Head of the State.

President Edgar Lungu is expected to mark his presence at the Zambia-Japan Business Forum. He is accompanied by Presidential Affairs Minister Freedom Sikazwe and Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Ronald Chitotela. Others who have accompanied the Head of State are Presidential Spokesman Amos Chanda and Political Advisor Kaizer Zulu.

President Lungu will also meet the Japanese Emperor Akihito. Lusaka Times reported that he will also hold a bilateral meeting with Japan's current Prime Minister Shinzō Abe where a few bilateral agreements will be finalized.

Earlier, Zambia's Head said that he looks forward to strengthening tie with Japan to deepen the developmental assistance to the South African country with a purpose to transform into a middle-income nation.

According to Lungu, in the last 50 years, lots of things pointing towards mutual cooperation have taken place and now this is the time to renew and strengthen friendship, trade and economic relationship between Zambia and Japan.
