Ethiopian Airlines is recently honoured with two continental awards – 'African Cargo Airline of the Year' and 'Air Cargo Brand of the Year in Africa'.

Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services envisions to become a full-fledged profit center of Ethiopian Airlines Group with annual revenue of USD 2 Billion, 19 dedicated aircraft, annual tonnage of 820,000 and 57 international destinations by 2025. "The awards are testimony to the leading role Ethiopian is playing in air cargo service in Africa," Tewolde GebreMariam, Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines said, as reported by New Business Ethiopia.

"In line with Vision 2025, we have been investing heavily in expanding our cargo services, building the largest trans-shipment terminal in Africa with an annual capacity of about 1 million tons and deploying 9 dedicated freighters. Our cargo services today span across 44 international destinations in Africa, the Gulf, Middle East, Asia, the Americas and Europe, augmenting the export of perishables from Africa and import of high value goods. I'd like to extend my gratitude to Air Cargo Africa for recognizing our efforts with these awards, and I'd like to congratulate my 16,000 plus colleagues at Ethiopian Airlines on the success they achieved through their dedication and hard work," Tewolde GebreMariam added.

On the other hand, Ethiopian Airlines has declared that it has finalized preparations to operate all-women functioned flight to Oslo, Norway, in celebration of this year's International Women's Day on March 8.

The flight will take Addis Ababa to Stockholm to Oslo route on International Women's Day this year. It will have a theme – "All women functioned flight to operate from the continent of Africa to meet with their counterparts in Europe to show the power of women to the world."
