President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame made a grant welcome to the participants at the nine-day Ram Katha spiritual event that recently commenced at Kigali Convention Centre. Hundreds of Rwandans and Indians living in Rwanda and other countries joined renowned spiritual leader Morari Bapu for his teachings.

Rwanda’s Head of State, Paul Kagame expressed his gratitude to the event’s organizers and participants for choosing Rwanda as a venue for such a beautiful event, explaining that it is a great gesture of solidarity with the Rwandans.

“I want to thank our special guest, Bapu, who is no stranger to Africa, for choosing Rwanda and being here for the next nine days. I also want to thank all of you, for coming at this particular time. This month, we are commemorating 25 years since the genocide that happened here in 1994,” the 61-year old leader opined.

“We truly appreciate this gesture of solidarity, which reflects the principles of truth, love, and compassion that are central to Bapu’s teaching. In Rwanda, we relate very closely to these three human values,” he added, as reported by The New Times.

Ram Katha event in Rwanda has been dedicated to the victims of the genocide in the country, its survivors, as well as all Rwandans in general, according to the main event organiser, entrepreneur and founder of Mara Group, Ashish Thakkar, who was in Rwanda 25 years ago during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi. “Thanks to the government of Paul Kagame, we are in a very different Rwanda today,” Ashish Thakkar said.

He accepted that the Ram Katha event in Rwanda is a ‘dream come true’. He also thanked Morari Bapu for coming to Rwanda. About 1,000 followers are said to be attending the event with many flying in from across the world.
