In a strategic leadership shift, Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) revealed Takashi Nakajima as its incoming President and CEO, who will take office on April 1, 2025. Nakajima steps into the role following the notable tenure of Takuya Tsumura, who is set to return to Honda's head office in Japan. Tsumura's impactful three years in India saw HCIL bolster its premium market standing and achieve significant business expansion.

Tsumura made impressive strides with the introduction of the Honda City e:HEV, India's first mainstream hybrid car, and the global SUV, Elevate. He laid a foundational path for Honda's entry into the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) market in India while enhancing the company's export operations, including shipping the Made-in-India Elevate to Japan. His tenure focused on operational efficiency and innovative marketing that improved dealer profitability and consumer engagement.

Nakajima, a Honda veteran since 1994, brings over 30 years of experience across multiple international markets. He has held significant roles in Japan, China, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Russia, with a strong focus on business planning, product planning, marketing, and sales. Recently serving as President of Honda Motor Russia, Nakajima is set to continue HCIL's tradition of excellence and innovation.
