Former Nepal prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' Friday met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed with him various issues concerning India and Nepal.

During the 20 minute meeting, the home minister and the Nepali leader exchanged notes on bilateral issues and discussed the political situation in Nepal, an official said.

Singh and Prachanda stressed the need to further strengthen the close relations between the two neighbors, the official said.

The Nepali leader is one of the two chairmen of the Nepal Communist Party, formed by the union of Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist-Leninist) and Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist-Centre).

Prachanda was the prime minister of Nepal from 2008 to 2009 and again from 2016 to 2017.

India shares a 1,751 km-long border with Nepal passing through Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Sikkim.
