Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, Leader of Opposition K Palaniswami, and other political leaders on Friday greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 71st birthday.

''Birthday greetings to our Hon'ble Prime Minister Thiru @narendramodi. Wishing him a long and healthy life,'' Stalin said in a tweet.

AIADMK top leaders O Panneerselvam and Palaniswami also extended their greetings to Modi.

In a tweet, Palaniswami extended his birthday wishes to the Prime Minister.

''Your dedication and determination in serving the nation are exemplary! Praying for your long and healthy life in service of our nation,'' he said in the tweet.

Panneerselvam, in his birthday message to Modi, commended his compassion for the well-being of the general public, especially the underprivileged and the downtrodden ''in these challenging days.'' ''I strongly believe that (the) nation will come out stronger from the crisis of (the Covid) pandemic under your energetic leadership in the years to come,'' he said and prayed to God for many more years of good health for the PM to serve the nation.

PMK founder Dr. S Ramadoss also extended his birthday greetings to Modi. Born in Gujarat in 1950, Modi joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at an early age and was later drafted into the BJP.
