Sep 10 (PTI) Meghalaya's former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has finally vacated the CM's Goodwood bungalow, six months after demitting office, an official said Monday.
"The Leader of Opposition (Mukul Sangma) has vacated the Goodwood bungalow last week. He has shifted to Sherwood bungalow, the official residence of the Leader of Opposition, a senior General Administrative Department (GAD) official told PTI.
Mukul's younger brother Zenith Sangma, who too had been overstaying in his official residence, had vacated the premises on September 1, the GAD official said.
He said renovation works were going on at Sherwood bungalow which the former chief minister and senior Congress leader D D Lapang occupied for 18 years.
The scenic Goodwood bungalow, built atop a hillock near the Polo Ground, was constructed for over Rs 10 crore. Mukul had occupied it since 2013, soon after he was sworn in as the chief minister for the second consecutive term.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma is yet to move into the official Goodwood bungalow, the official said.
