Sweden Democrat leader Akesson said on Thursday his party would vote down any government that did not give his party influence over policy after an election delivered a hung parliament.

"We will not, either actively or passively, support a government that does not give us influence," Akesson told reporters.

He was speaking after meeting the speaker of parliament who is talking to all party leaders to gauge who has the best chance of forming a new government after the Sept. 9 vote.
